Kidblog.org: UPDATE 01/23/2010
I emailed Kidblog with my concerns about the lack of information on their website, and the founder, Matt Hardy, responded promptly with an email that had more news and facts about them. Click the read more link to see his full reply, and you can make up your mind from there. "I absolutely agree with you that Kidblog.org needs more info about who's behind the scenes. In fact, we're in the process of adding such content as I write this email. We'll be providing more "About Us" information, as well as some brief tutorials for users who want to get a feel for Kidblog before registering. We've been getting a lot of positive press lately, and this has heightened the demand for more details about what Kidblog is all about. The short story is that out development team is devoted to providing a powerful, free service for teachers to provide hassle-free opportunities for their students to publish blogs online. I'm the lead developer on the project. I have a computer science degree with 12 years of professional web development experience. I also hold an M.Ed. in elementary education with 6 years of classroom teaching experience. When searching for a teacher-friendly blogging tool for use with my own students, I couldn't find what my students and I really needed. So I founded Kidblog.org. We've been getting a ton of teacher registrations lately, as blogs like yours and folks on Twitter have taken time to mention Kidblog's benefits to other educators. We've had approximately 10,000 student blogs set up by teachers in the past two weeks alone. We're thrilled to know that teachers and students are finding Kidblog to be a powerful tool in their daily teaching efforts. I hope that helps shed some light on who we are and where we're coming from. This type of information will soon be available to at Kidblog.org for our members and visitors to see. Feel free to mention any of this background information on your blog if you think it would benefit your readers. Thanks again for taking the time to get in touch. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions or comments about Kidblog."
