Scribble Maps 03/07/2010
![]() Scribble Maps has been around for a while now, but it recently came to my attention again because of the new Smart Board in my room. I think that this is a really good tool for Smart Board users. For those new to Scribble Maps, it is a version of Google Maps that lets you add shapes, doodles, text or other annotations. Customize the map the way you want it, and then send it to friends and colleagues by email., print it, embed it as a widget or share it on Facebook. The interface makes it great to use on an interactive whiteboard, but it works just as well with keyboard and mouse. CommentsSun, 07 Mar 2010 18:42:35 This is really excellent for IWB's, I have several of our teachers using it with our Promethean boards, the ability to print it and share it with students who were absent is really a nice feature. Sun, 07 Mar 2010 18:45:48 I just realized that I haven't done a Quick Tip on Scribble Maps yet, seems like a necessity! Look for it on Tuesday, feel free to link to it or embed it if you think it would help your teachers. Thanks for the inspiration! Sun, 07 Mar 2010 20:47:37 I read this blog post, and in order to make Scribble Maps even more white board friendly, I have added the ability to hide ads. Thanks for using Scribble Maps! Mon, 08 Mar 2010 01:21:14 I wrote a detailed post with mapping resources lately, and luckily discovered Scribble Maps first. Admittedly, I first behaved like a three year old and played with the scribble function, but I think it is an excellent tool for classroom or personal use. Mon, 08 Mar 2010 20:08:31 Thanks for the reminder on this site. I've been using zeemaps.com, but this is a little easier when it comes to placing markers and the drawing feature is nice. Lindsay Sun, 14 Mar 2010 22:30:27 Thank you for the tip. My school is currently in the process of remodeling all of the classrooms. I am always trying to connect my lessons to places in the world and I try to explain where the places are in relation to other countries the students may know. This will be a great tool to have. I can't wait! Billy Mon, 15 Mar 2010 08:56:02 I love this application. Maps are a lot of fun for kids, now they have the abolity to draw and personalize their maps. Plus it looks great on a white board for the whole class to view. Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply |
